6 months home and I've got a twisted ankle!!!

today the social worker came to do our six-months-home review, and update it for Karli.  We're using the same social worker for both adoptions, so it wasn't that hard.  We've been cleaning and working to get me and my 9 yr. old sister--Kylie--moved in together, so Kylie/Kenzie's old room can now be available for Karli & Kenzie to share.  I'm not big on the idea of sharing a room--again--but I have to admit it looks pretty cool.  It's green--my all time favorite color--and it's really pretty.  Wanna know what else is new?  I twisted--more like rolled--my ankle last night at basketball practice.  I can hobble a little, but it hurts like crazy, and I'm hopping on my good leg everywhere.  (I look really ridiculous.)  Our last game is Friday, and I can't make it.  So just please pray that it gets better soon.

Busy As a Bee

Hey, everyone. I haven't had much time to post recently, but I have a few minutes, so okay. Anyway, as I was saying, we've been pretty busy this week, because we're in the process of taking down the wallpaper in room, so we can paint the walls/baseboards, and move all my furniture, plus Kylie's stuff back in there. (We're sharing a room to make space for Karli.) We've also been hanging up wallpaper boarder (Carebear) in Karli & Kenzie's room. Our house is a mess, and, oh, yeah. Keaton's birthday party is Saturday. SATURDAY. (His real birthday's Thursday the 21st.) So, we have to clean the house, get everything done in the room(s), and still decorate and everything else. And, you haven't heard the rest of the story. (Yep, there's more.) Next Wednesday (not tomorrow, but the next Wednesday) we have the social worker coming to do a 6-month thing for Kenzie, and update our homestudy for Karli's adoption. So, if we can't keep the house spotless for a little less than a week, then we gotta clean it all again. Anyway, just wanted to give you a little taste of what's been going on. (There's not really much more info or anything that exciting that I can put on here, so...)

p.s I will probably have some photos on here of Keaton's party, but I'll have to get my mom or dad to take them because I won't be able to go.

Whirlwind of A New Skill

Kenzie now has a new-found skill, which is soon to become a habit. So what is it? Spinning in circles. Yep, she has now learned how to spin in circles, and can spin several times around before falling down or walking somewhere else. (She laughs the whole time.) All right, well, just wanted to give a little update. Talk to you later.

China Pics & More

Hey, just to let everyone know, I created a blog a little while ago for photos, slideshows, and videos from China. I'll have stuff from both trips (Kenzie's and, soon to be, Karli's), and although I don't expect to post on there much, I'll have some things, and it should be easier to get to everything even after it's been on there a while.
Here's the adress: http://www.ourchinapics.blogspot.com

(And, I have the link on my sidebar towards the bottom.)

What's the story behind the Wuxi photos?

Well, my mom found all of these photos online, and, believe it or not, this isn't even all of them! The pics in the slideshow below are of Wuxi, places in Wuxi, touristy things, and the orphanage where Karli is located. It's kind of a long slideshow, but there are some neat photos in it.

p.s. Yes, there are still NO photos of Karli, I know. If you leave me a comment with your email, though, I'll email you the pictures.

Ni Hao, Kai-lan!

All right, everybody. This is just a quick post. As some of you may know, earlier during the week, a series titled "Ni Hao, Kai-lan!" premiered on Nick Jr. Kai-lan is a Chinese girl, so this is pretty much a Chinese version of Dora (finally!) where she goes on adventures, and possibly even teaches a little Chinese along the way. Did you know that you can get the first episode for free on iTunes? That's right. Just go to the iTunes store, and type "nia hao, kai-lan" into the search engine. (No, you don't need to use capital letters or parentheses.) I tried it and it got me to the correct page to download it for FREE. Also, I found the "website" for it off Nick Jr. So, I'm going to paste the link here, but I'm also going to add it to my sidebar, so you can try to find it or copy&paste. Whatever works best for you. Anyway, I guess that's all for now. I just thought I'd mention about the TV show and the website. Talk to everyone later.

p.s. we kinda went out for dinner tonight. (My mom went to the hospital, and my dad took the four of us to the Aquarium. Kenzie loved the fish tanks full of fish, and the food wasn't bad either. Comment and tell me how YOU'RE New Year went.)

Oh! I haven't gotten a chance to see the show yet, but if you have, please go ahead and comment to tell me what you thought of it. Thanks.

The Year Of The Rat Has Come!!!!!

Hey! Today is, officially, Chinese New Year. Whether you're going to dinner, or having a party, or sitting at home, watching TV, and doing nothing, I still wish a good holiday to you. Sorry that I thought I wouldn't get the chance to post today, but my Grandma's in the hospital, and my brother, sisters, and me are getting bounced around between baby sitters while my mom visits her. Due to that, I may not get to post very frequently in the next few days, but I'm sure that every where I go will (should) have a computer. Anyway, I'd just like to say happy official Chinese New Year! I don't think we're planning on doing anything at all, really, but you never know... Hope to talk to ya'all soon.

Ring In The "New Year"

So, I searched up Chinese New Year on Wikipedia, and it said that the year of the rat, this year, is tomorrow. (I hope it's right, but if not, you can deal with it or leave me a comment.) Anyway, just thought I'd do a short little post this evening, since I probably won't get the chance to do it tomorrow. So, I kinda wanted to put a little bit on what animal this year is. Here goes:

Rat
Myspace Chinese Astrology

So, if you're a rat, this is supposedly about you and this is your year. (I don't believe it much, but...) But whatever. Just wanted to say Happy Chinese New Year to everyone adopting or with Chinese children in case I didn't get the chance later. So, I'm gonna say it...

Oh, my gosh. It has been, like, so incredibly long since I have--or even attempted to--update this blog. So, you're probably wondering, what's the lowdown on Karli and Kenzie, and is there any news? Well, I can tell you that there's nothing much. Things have been pretty slow at our house lately. We did receive that picture of Karli, but there are reasons that my mom won't allow me to post them on here. Wanna know why??? OK, well, my mom's been on her Waiting Child Yahoo Groups a lot, and some people said that there have been some cases (plural!) where the CCAA somehow saw the website, and the photo, and China hadn't approved them yet, and it was a huge mess. They actually TOOK AWAY the child!!!!! Can you believe it? We have grown so attached to Karli--just by the pics and the video--and we could never lose her. So we're not going to chance it. However, you CAN see them after China approves us. (Only God knows when that'll happen!)

Also, we got ahold of our social worker from before, and she's coming out to our house in, I think, mid-February. She's going to do a six-months-home check-up and recap on our family. She's also going to update it for Karli's adoption. So, yeah. I really hate when the social worker comes, because, if you've adopted/adopting, you know what that means: Major Clean-up. Save me!!!!!

Anyway, that's pretty much all that's happened lately. Like I said, it's not much, but it's something to give you some fresh reading on here. I'll type more later...if there's anything to tell you. 'Till then, though, hang tight. That's what we're doing.
