Wow! It's like you go to church camp for a week, and get a little busy with summer activities and before you know it, it's like Kenzie's grown up. In the past few weeks, she has gotten much more talkative, and guess what...she said her first sentence! ("I want more.") She can now say (pretty clearly or in "Kenzie-talk"); ball, mom, dad, elmo, big bird, bird, dog, yes mam, baby, no (one of her favorites at the moment), yes, drink, juice, more, please, thank you, night-night, light, food, blanket, and a few simple words like that, etc. She's also facing forwards in her carseat; can climb (oh, yes, we have a climber!) up on top of a chair in our living room and turn the lightswitches on and off (it gets annoying after a while); is sitting in a booster seat instead of a highchair; and instead of sitting in her little round seat (idk what it's called) in the bathtub, she now has more freedom on her Elmo mat. I think she's becoming more and more outgoing every day. She loves animals, is a musical prodigy (she's obsessed with piano, and the guitar fascinates her as well); she loves singing and dancing around (especially to old Sesame Street tapes)...and *grins* (just like me) has a huge shoes/clothes/purses fetish. It's truly amazing how well China matches each baby to their family...she has many of the same interests and likes as us, and it's just incredible, isn't it?
(Update on Karli's adoption): we're really just in the same spot where we've been the past few weeks...waiting, waiting, waiting! (Which is kind of tough for me, because to say I'm not the most patient person around would be the understatement of the year). So, we're just leaving it in God's hands, because it's in HIs timing and by His will. Unfortunately, though, this time I won't be going to pick Karli up, and neither will my dad. Instead, my mom and Kylie are going. Kylie is very much ready for China in every way, I think. She's really serious about it, and she's doing summer jobs as fund raisers, so I really do hope that she has a good time.
(Oh, and by the way, my birthday was July 5, so I'm now 13.) :-D

Dossier To China!
Well, we've been pretty busy recently (with my mom's Girl Scout camp, and VBS, adn volunteering and all), but I thought it would be good to let you all know that our dossier was sent to China. Which means that now...WE WAIT. All of our paperwork has been sent to China, so now nothing is dependent on us, we're just waiting for China to do their part. (Can't they hurry?!) So, yep. Also, on Saturday Kenzie will have been with us an equal number of days that she was without us, and on Sunday, she would've been with us for more of her life than without. Wow...WHERE THE HECK DID THE TIME GO?!?!?!?! Lol. It's been amazing...Well, I have to go for now. Keep checking our blog and following our journey to Karli!

Our Past Week
Man, we have had ourselves in for a busy week this past one! Check out a little bit of our schedule:
-On Monday, we (I say we, I mean my mom, Keaton, Kenzie, my mom's friends and her daughter; I was at the beach w/ my grandma) drove up to Austin to do something with the adoption paperwork. (It was all the paperwork...we took it all up there for certification.)
-And then, anyway, on Tuesday (the following day) and took the paperwork up to the Chinese consulate. Which, thank heavens, is about 30 minutes away from us. (I honestly haven't a clue what they did to the paperwork there...lol)
-Then, Wednesday, we went to a local-ish consignment shop for children, to shop for toys and clothes for the two girls. (This place is one of our favorites.) And then went on to church.
-Thursday was a day for me. :-D I went with my girl scout troop to an all-day shopping spree at the mall. I had a great time, and so did everyone else. :-)
-Friday, we *shudders* took Kenzie to the doctor. If you ever want to hear your child scream loud, a good way to fulfill your wish would be to take them to the doctor. Thankfully, though, no shots! Yay! We also (this was technically before the doctor appointment) took another paper up to the Consulate, and we will be picking up those on Monday. PLUS we have been working hard to get some last-minute things done for the girl scout camp my mom is directing and putting on in 2 weeks.
Phew!
-Today, (Saturday), we went to a big homeschool convention/trade show type-thing (I guess that's what you would call it...?) to buy our curriculum and material for the next school year coming up.
But...sports are over for now, and so are most of our activities. Summer camps and VBS's will pack up our Summer (plus me working at the place where I volunteer at, 3 days a week). Hopefully some of this will take our minds off time and make it seem like we get Karli sooner. (One can but hope...)

Steven Curtis Chapman
Hey, everyone. If you haven't heard about what happened to Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter yet, I encourage you to check out their website (http://www.stevencurtischapman.com/), and read the article, as well as pray for them. This is a sad and unfortunate time for their family, and we probably wouldn't have Kenzie with us right now if he hadn't publicized about his adoption(s) and got my parents interested. My heart goes out to them, but I know God has a plan for their family, and it will work out in the end. Anyway, I just encourage you to pray for the Chapman family, because they have done some really amazing stuff for other families who are adopting. Thank you.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! (And a little more on Kenzie...)
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! Today, being mother's day, was also Kenzie's baby dedication at our church. She looked adorable in her dress, and I hope to have pictures on here soon.
Everything is going good with Karli's adoption, but as always, we are only hoping the wait could go faster. Kenzie is very happy and healthy. She loves to talk and play around, and I think when she starts talking for real...well, i don't think she'll be quiet! :-) Since she's been home, she has opened up so much more. I also think (along with talking) her future will also hold sometihng along the lines of music and dancing. Her favorite groups (of the week) to dance to are probably Hawk Nelson (I just got the "Smile, it's the end of the world" CD and she absolutely LOVES it) and Carrie Underwood (the Carnival Ride album). Can't say she has bad taste in music...:-) She also has a crazy addiction to the piano (I have been playing for 7 years, and Kylie has been playing for about 2, I think) and she adores climbing up and sitting on the piano bench and playing (not banging, actually something [resembling] music). But what can I say? We knew she was something special all along...

Baby Dedication...Coming up!
So, Mother's Day (I'm really unaware of the actual date of Mother's Day at the moment, but it's the second Sunday in May) is the day our church (Berean Baptist Church) is holding their baby dedication service, and for the first time in a while, we can actually "dedicate" a baby in our family...Kenzie! We have also been hunting for a dress for her to wear. And, so, yeah, anyway, we will be dedicating Kenzie to the Lord, and we'll be posting pictures. We can't wait!

Home Study!
Our home study is done, and we are waiting for it to be in the mail. One step closer to Karli. Yay!*
*My mom told me to "explain a little better what PA means." So, I am going to try to give you my definition of it...(which may not be the best, because I'm not too familiar with it myself.) Well, PA (in case you're unaware of what the P and A in PA stands for, it's Pending Approval). Anyway, it doesn't really mean anything. Mostly it just means that China looked over our paperwork that we sent, and they pre-approved us (according to the information on the paperwork that we sent), and as long as our dossier fits their guidelines, then we are approved to adopt Karli.

Okay, so we got a call from someone (as sad as it is, I really don't know who, but I'm guessing she's with the agency...?) and she informed us that we have PA (Pending Approval). Just to let you know, we are no longer waiting for it; we have it. :-D

Update
Hey, everyone. Sorry I haven't been on here since Easter, but we've been busy (or maybe I'm too lazy) but anyway, I'm back now. Since Easter...
-we've had termites, resulting in having to put new paneling on a little bit of the wall in our living room and front room, and getting new wood flooring in our entry way
-Kylie's birthday (April 14) and birthday party (April 5) have both happened
-Kenzie got more shots at the doctor
-I got a shot, too :-(
-the sports season is coming to an end
-we are working on getting a photo album together to send to Karli, in her orphanage, in Wuxi
-we went to the Space Center...again (I may have pics on here, but I may not)
-and we're getting our paperwork together
That's pretty much it. Just a quick update, and I'm working on posting some photos and maybe a new video soon. :-D
